The
store is a social gathering spot and it is not uncommon to see several people
you know. It is especially popular on the weekends, with many people including
bikers and others taking advantage of Arizona’s climate grabbing a breakfast
burrito and a coffee. The second A.J.’s which serves a lot of PV shoppers is
located at the northeast corner of 44th and Camelback, near The Village health
club. The store is a bit odd-shaped with its entry opening up to an internal
walkway. In addition to PV, it serves a lot of Arcadia and Biltmore area
residents. In the same center as the Lincoln and Scottsdale Road A.J.’s is a
Trader Joe’s. While the store is small, it does attract a particular type of
shopper who is attracted to certain specialty items.
For the
northeast part of Paradise Valley, the Safeway at Scottsdale and Shea is a
close spot. This shopping center was recently sold to a doctor from California
and several renovations or improvements are under way or expected. There is a
new Mid First Bank pad site and a popular Dunkin Donuts in the center. The
Safeway is a standard grocery store with all the offerings including a deli
that makes great paninis. Its prices are average, but typically not as low as
Fry’s. The main attraction to this grocery store is its convenient location if
you live on the eastern part of a street like Doubletree or Sunnyvale which is
close to Scottsdale Road.
The
largest and most popular grocery store serving PV right now is the Fry’s
Signature store at Tatum and Shea. This store was recently remodeled and is
enormous. It has a wide array of dining options inside including sushi and wine
bars, and a large seating area for diners. There are a number of stores within
the store such as a jewelry shop and bank. Valet parking is offered, as are a
number of covered parking spots. It has competitive prices. Across the street
from this center are a Trader Joe’s and a Whole Foods. They are a bit hidden
and Fry’s is on a superior corner which is easier to access and closer to the Town.
