With
no land that is zoned commercial in the Town of Paradise Valley, shoppers need
to go to neighboring Scottsdale or Phoenix to do their grocery shopping. These
areas have a wide variety of grocery stores, restaurants, shopping and other
services. Since these communities border the Town of PV, while getting to the
grocery store requires leaving PV, many people will have less than a 5 minute
drive to get there. The boutique grocery store A.J.’s Fine Foods (owned by
Bashas) is a popular spot for groceries, wine and pre-packaged foods. There are
two stores that are extremely close to PV. The store at Lincoln Drive and
Scottsdale Road literally borders Paradise Valley and is a short drive away for
people living in the southern part of PV, between Camelback and Mummy Mountain,
near Mockingbird and Lincoln.
The
store is a social gathering spot and it is not uncommon to see several people
you know. It is especially popular on the weekends, with many people including
bikers and others taking advantage of Arizona’s climate grabbing a breakfast
burrito and a coffee. The second A.J.’s which serves a lot of PV shoppers is
located at the northeast corner of 44th and Camelback, near The Village health
club. The store is a bit odd-shaped with its entry opening up to an internal
walkway. In addition to PV, it serves a lot of Arcadia and Biltmore area
residents. In the same center as the Lincoln and Scottsdale Road A.J.’s is a
Trader Joe’s. While the store is small, it does attract a particular type of
shopper who is attracted to certain specialty items.
